From our future Pastor . . .

Dear Prairie Wind Parish,

News travels fast these days. The devastation caused by tornadoes in Chapman and Manhattan has flashed in the headlines even as I remain faraway from you yet. But the news that hurting people are being helped, buildings are being repaired and lives are being healed is sometimes less aired on the national news. Let me assure you that I have heard by various means the ways Prairie Wind Parish and others are reaching out to neighbors in need. Thank you. God's love shines on through you.

Plans for July 13 as installation Sunday are in full swing. Rev. John Kreidler, assistant to the bishop, will preside at this special service when I officially become your pastor. Please see inside the newsletter for more details.

Your brothers and sisters in Christ at Palm Valley Lutheran Church in Round Rock, TX, who joined me for ordination on June 15th greet you with their thoughts and prayers. We sang a hymn we will sing again at installation: "The Church's One Foundation." No storms, sin, death, or even the devil will destroy the foundation we have in Jesus Christ.

Pastor Stephen Haverlah

The Rite of Installation for The Reverend Stephen Haverlah will take place on Sunday, July 13th, with The Reverend John Kreidler officiating.

Trinity will have a catered luncheon following the worship service at noon.

VBS - July 21st -25th, 6:00pm - 9:00; supper provided for students and helpers. There will be sign up sheets in Bergstresser Hall for meals and helpers. The contact person for meals is Lorna Davis is 263. 3829. The contact person for VBS is Andy Hess is 263.3197. Ruth Thornton (the nursery attendant on Sunday mornings) has graciously volunteered her time that week for the nursery for helpers children, ages 0 - 2 – during VBS time. Andy has reserved the pool for Friday night and will be holding a BBQ. Please look for sign-up sheets for helpers/assistants/cooks, and further information. In order to make VBS as success, we need your help. Thank you.
